3969 Shaw gas tanks removed

I swear this is not a duplicate post, but it seems like the powers that be are busy cleaning up old gas station sites in South Saint Louis. Just a few weeks removed from the dig-up of the gas tanks at 3506 Morganford, a crew just finished doing the same thing  at 3969 Shaw. Located in the Shaw Neighborhood of South St. Louis at the intersection of Shaw and Lawrence, the property had long been an eyesore.

I actually discussed this specific lot and other vacant properties along Shaw about a year ago when the former service station was still standing. It was finally torn down in October after the LRA took control of the property. As of this morning, the gas tanks below the surface have also been removed. No word yet on what, if anything, is planned for the lot, but seeing as how it is catty-corner to the newly opened Mama Josephine’s and next to numerous recently rehabbed properties, it seems likely something worthwhile will be done with it.
