The Tower Grove Park mutant squirrel

Saw this squirrel while driving through Tower Grove Park yesterday. Looked like a normal grey squirrel only it was red all over. Wondering if that red fox that lives in the park has been having an inter-species relationship with a squirrel.

Looks like a red squirrel. A good 50% bigger than greys. Kansas has a ton of them. Hadn’t seen one here before, so maybe Parks should be notified. Could be an invasive species and best nipped in the bud.

I’m spent a lot of time in the Missouri outdoors and I have never seen one. From what I can find on the internet, these red squirrels are run off by the grays.
