Use Smartr (Xobni) to organize your email contacts

If you are like me, you have a lot of contacts and emails to sort through on any given day. Just part of being the the real estate industry I guess. For the past two years, I have been using an addon called Rapportive to bring social media and additional details to my Gmail account. The thought is that I simply don’t have the time to keep up with social media lives of every contact on every site out there so this program brings the recent data on the person I am conversing with and puts it right in my inbox. Its been very useful and worth checking out if you are a Google Mail user. However, there is a new player in town with Xobni’s Smartr program going public this morning.

If the name Xobni is familiar, that is probably because you have used their software paired with Microsoft Outlook at some point. This add-on is very similar, but instead of being just for Outlook, it also works with Gmail, as well as the Android, Blackberry and iPhone mobile platforms. The Smartr name is just Xobni rebranded. It does many of the things that Rapportive does, and since it is available on more platforms, it has the potential to outshine the competition. It’s too soon to tell whether or not Rapportive should be ditched for Smartr, but if you want keep tabs on what your contacts are up too, you should be using one of these programs.
