No other active real estate development project in the St. Louis area has received as much attention as Ballpark Village. The planned $800 million project is the product of the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore-based Cordish Company, but has faced hurdle after hurdle. “On again, off again” since the completion of Busch Stadium III, the developers say [...]
Ballpark Village start date? 2011… Maybe
The Post Dispatch is reporting that Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III has informed them not to expect any changes in the 2010 lineup at the future Ballpark Village project location.

Behold… Ballpark Village!
Apparently April Fools Day has come a little early this year. The St. Louis Cardinals have just announced their plans for the Ballpark Village site for the year. I’d like to introduce you to our new parking lot and softball field.
Ballpark Village delay dance continues
As frustrating as it is, Bill DeWitt Jr. and Cordish are good at spinning things out. Here’s the latest in the sage from the St. Louis Post Dispatch. I really do think this project will actually happen at some point, but I hope everyone learns their lesson. Which they won’t. At least we are in [...]
St. Louis MLB All-Star logo
Since Ballpark Village is finally underway (note the sarcasm), I guess its time to think about the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Or at least, that’s what Major League baseball seems to think. The Post Dispatch just revealed the logo for next year’s big game. Its kind of sad to think that we’ll be [...]
Ballpark Village site work begins
The Post Dispatch is reporting that the Cardinals will begin site work on the future site of Ballpark Village on Tuesday, August 5th. I was listening to the ballgame on the radio the other day and Mike Shannon kept talking about a big announcement coming this Tuesday. I was hoping for something a little more [...]
Note on Chouteau’s Landing
I went to my first Cardinals game of 2008 last night. It was a little chilly for baseball, but it was great to see the team pull out a victory and move to 10-4 (who’s laughing now ESPN?). Though the sports fan in me kept most of my attention on the game, I couldn’t help [...]
A few words on Ballpark Village
Since I was in the middle of transferring my blog last week when the big story broke that Centene was backing out of the Ballpark Village project in Downtown St. Louis, I figured I’d post a few thoughts on the situation. Everyone seems to have their own spin on what this means for the project, [...]
Ballpark Village – Centene project on the rocks
In the realm of über development projects in St. Louis, the Ballpark Village project next to Busch Stadium is probably the most prominent. The St. Louis Cardinals are required to develop the land and have been working with developer, Cordish, for what’s seemingly been an eternity. Last September, Clayton-based health care company Centene Corporation announced [...]
