Ernesto’s Wine Bar in Benton Park

This time last year, the commercial space at 2730 McNair appeared to be set to house a restaurant called Koronaz. Neighborhood support for the project, however, was not forthcoming and it fell apart. While that was a setback, the good news is that the wait for something to open in the space appears to be over. The larger commercial space on the corner of McNair and Lynch was converted into an apartment after the Koronaz plan fell through, but the smaller commercial space immediately north of the intersection on McNair will soon be home to Ernesto’s Wine Bar.

The establishment will reportedly be owned by developer Phoenix Redevelopment Group and will feature a wide selection of wine and food.  This news has been floating out there for a while now, but it appears that the opening of the establishment is just around the corner. A look through the windows shows tables and chairs in place, as well as most of the decorations. In the rear patio area, stacks of metal chairs are already waiting to handle patrons.

With the relative lack of activity in Benton Park on this western end of Lynch, this wine bar could do a lot to help bring attention to the street. One would hope that if they are successful, they might someday consider expanding into the larger apartment-converted section immediately to the south. Welcome to Benton Park. Just tried Ernesto’s for the first time, and I was blown away! I fell in love with the place the second I walked in, and everything that happened after that ensured that I would be back. The atmosphere is wonderful, the stuff is super nice (several people came up to chat), and the food is fantastic. I love the simplicity of the menu. It reminds me of being in Europe. My friends and I will no doubt spend plenty of time in this wonderful place. Welcome to Benton Park!

I didn’t realize that they had opened this weekend. Good news and glad to hear you had a good experience. It’s looking like Foam is finally going to open up anytime now soon so Benton park options look like they just keep on expanding
