Lafayette Square Scientology Church

Love it or hate it, the Church of Scientology is coming to St. Louis City. And they are bringing their pocketbook. The group purchased the one-time German cultural center and Christian School facility at 2345 Lafayette Avenue for $1.9 million in 2007 and have been trying to get the project going for the past 3 years. Construction is finally underway on this 70,000+ square foot property in the Lafayette Square Neighborhood.

Plans call for a public auditorium, classroom and offices. In total, rehab costs are estimated to be around $1 million. This location will serve the area in conjunction with the Scientology facility already in place on Delmar in University City. With this eyesore finally getting a face-lift, and the Union Club already finished on the opposite side of Lafayette, this corner is really starting to turn around.
