St. Louis Parks: Fremont Park

Often overshadowed by it’s larger cousin to the south, Fremont Park is a 2.31 acres park located at the corner of Salena and Lynch in the Benton Park Neighborhood of St. Louis. Formerly known as Pontiac Central Park, this green space features a softball field, a playground and a fair amount of open space and shaded areas.

The softball field isn’t much, but the facilities are good enough for casual game of wiffleball or softball. The playground and sidewalks around the park were recently upgraded so the environment is pretty nice for kids.  While park benches are plentiful, the one drinking fountain was out of order on my visit and the Porta Potty that used to be on site is nowhere to be found. Overall, this park is a nice space for when you need more than your back yard can provide, but don’t expect a lot of amenities. For a closer look at the park, see the picture gallery below.
